this appeals to me

My friend gave this to me for Christmas and when I took it out of the box I had no idea what it was.

She then demonstrated and I was hooked. The kids love it too, they don't need any encouragement to eat fruit but if you knew of a child that did- this would be the tool!

Its suction pad holds it onto your bench (we have wooden benches and because it doesn't stick well to that we use the slab of marble). You push an apple onto the spikes and it peels and cores the apple as you turn the handle.

When it's finished you end up with a peeled and cored apple that looks like a spring, our kids now ask for 'springy apples'.

Here's a link where you can buy one for that person who has everything, likes quirky things or has children who won't eat fruit!:

Do you like what I did with the title? This 'a peels' to me- he he .....sigh : )

bubble wands

I got this idea from a pin my friend added to her Pinterest board yesterday. I knew my kids would appreciate them as they love blowing bubbles and we go through lots of bubble mixture. I've made them one each and a third to go in a little friend's birthday parcel. They're just copper wire twisted with beads threaded on to make the 'handle'. Once you've threaded the beads on twist the excess wire up and around the beads and tuck the ends into one so that there's no 'pointy bits'.

Here's a bubble mixture recipe

1/4 cup of dishwashing liquid
1 cups of water
1 teaspoon of sugar

kids websites

Occasionally, I'll let the kids have 20 minutes on my computer- they're only 3 and 4 afterall...

Super Why is an Emmy-nominated Kids TV series that's on channel 44 ( Nick Jnr). We t- box each episode and play them some time between 4-6 most days. Here's some info off the Nick Jnr web site:

"Preschoolers who haven't yet been introduced to superheroes Alpha Pig, Wonder Red, Princess Presto, and Super Why will be fascinated by their respective gifts of alphabet power, word power, spelling power, and the power to read. They'll eagerly accept the invitation to join the team as Super You, with the power to help. Young audiences will find these animated adventures eye-opening, and will be inspired to learn to read when they see firsthand the power of words to literally transform a negative situation into a positive one."

The Wiggles- I just love them and the real yellow shirt man Greg is coming back!

My friend recommended this one, it's one you pay for but you get a 2 week free trial which my 4 year old is loving, again- here's some info off their site.

"Reading eggs learning to read interesting and engaging for kids, with great online reading games and activities. And it really works! Children love the games, songs, golden eggs and other rewards which, along with feeling proud of their reading, really motivate children to keep exploring and learning."

dolls house

I'm so excited, I've found the perfect wooden dolls house to do up for the children ( and for me!) and it only cost $15. I 've been looking at dolls houses on Pinterest for ages and have the colour scheme and layout all sorted. I'll be putting an undercoat of white over it this week and heading to Spotlight to buy some scrap booking/ wall paper and Resene for some test pots. I've asked a friend in the flooring business to look out for vinyl and carpet offcuts too. I'd love to say I'm going to do it up and sell it on for a little profit but I know when it's finished I'll want to keep it for us.

With its first coat of paint...
